Four gigs in four days, brilliant venues, unforgettable crowds and a fantastic review from Sheff Herd Magazine. Tramlines Fringe 2026 was a weekend Sons of the City won't forget.
What a weekend Tramlines Fringe turned out to be for Sons of the City. Playing four venues across four days was a brilliant experience, and something we would definitely love to continue doing in the future. Each venue had its own personality, each gig felt completely different, and the whole weekend reminded me just how strong Sheffield's independent music scene is. Thursday began at Zephyrs, a cool little bar with a great setup. It was the perfect place to start the weekend, with an intimate atmosphere and a brilliant crowd that made the first night feel really special. Friday brought a few technical issues, but Andy who stepped in to help with the sound, was an absolute legend. He worked hard to keep everything moving and did everything he could for us. We really appreciated his support and determination on what could have been a difficult night. Saturday took us to Guitar Shack, which has such a cool and quirky vibe. its a venue and guitar shop with real character, and you can see how much hard work Tom has put into making the place what it is. It was a brilliant space to play and a brilliant experience for us over the weekend. We finished on Sunday at Sidney & Matilda, which is already one of our favourite Sheffield venues. The crowd was unreal and gave us the perfect ending to an incredible four days. The atmosphere, the response to the songs and the energy in the room topped off a fantastic fringe festival for us. The weekend was made even more special when Sheff Herd Magazine included our Sunday performance among their highlights of the festival. Below is what was written
"This was one of my highlights of the festival. I was transported back to my teenage years in Manchester in the mid 90s, when Oasis breathed new life into the British indie scene. This felt like more than just pastiche, though. Every song bursts with chiming, heart-soaring melodies"
Receiving a review like that means a great deal to us and was a great way to finish the weekend.
There is plenty of good news in the pipeline, and we may even have the beginnings of a small French adventure in the planning, but more on that when the time is right. Next up for us is Tribfest, where we will be performing in the unsigned Marquee. The festival is already 85% sold out with a few weeks to go, and we cannot wait to get there.
